How to Prepare for your First Acupuncture Appointment?

If you have made your first acupuncture appointment with B&Q Acupuncture, knowing how to prepare and care for yourself before your session will help your body make the most of your treatment.

1) Have an appropriate amount of food before acupuncture

It is the best to eat something two hours before your appointment. There is a     risk of feeling lightheaded on an empty stomach or feeling uncomfortable if you have a big meal prior to acupuncture.

2) Schedule acupuncture wisely to avoid stress

It is recommended to schedule your acupuncture appointment on the day that you are not engaged in too stressful an activity before or afterward.  Arriving 10 mins before the appointment offers you the opportunity to settle, use the bathroom or have a drink of water.

3) Avoid caffeine  two hours before your appointment

Caffeine is a stimulant can alter your healing and relaxation during your session.

4) Loose-Fitting, Comfortable Clothing

Loose fitting clothes are great for acupuncture appointments because the practitioner can roll up the clothing items, or ask you to do so if that’s more comfortable for you, to ensure that the right points can be reached.

5) Please do not brush your tongue

The colour and texture of the tongue coating are important diagnostic clues in Traditional Chinese Medicine.

Enjoy your acupuncture session!
